Bihu assam 2023

Bihu is set of three important non-religious festivals in Assam.

They are as follows Rongali or Bohag Bihu – April Komgali or Kati Bihu   - October Bhogali or Magh Bihu – January

The Rongali Bihu is the one of most important among three celebrating as spring festival.

The Bhogali Bihu is a harvest festival.

The Kongali Bihu or Kati Bahi is an animistic festival.

The three Bihu are Assamese festivals but the celebrations and rituals are from Southeast Asia

The term Bihu is simply called Bihu Dance also called Bihu Naas Bihu folk songs also called Bihu Geet.

It is also celebrated in abroad.They have many communities all over the world .One among them is “The London Bihu Committee”  (LBC) which is in UK.

INSTRUMENTS USED IN BIHU: Dhol (drum) Toka Baanhi ( flute) Taal Pepa ( Instrument Whmade of buffalo horn) Gogona ( A instrument made of Bambo)
