By the end of March 2023, every citizen with a PAN card must also have an Aadhaar identification.

All taxpayers who possess PAN cards are required by law to link those cards to their Aadhaar cards by the specified date.

Before asking to link PAN and Aadhaar, however, a Rs. 1,000 late fee must be paid.

The PAN card will cease to function on April 1st 2023 if the PAN-Aadhaar connection is not completed by the deadline of March 31, 2023. Aadhaar and PAN cards should be connected, so make sure of that.

Note that the income tax department will not process your income tax returns if you submit them without linking your PAN and Aadhaar until you do so.
