89M Selfies Shared on Govt’s Har Ghar Tiranga Site by Noon on Independence Day
In a cheerful and patriotic display, more than 89 million people from all over India have shared selfies with the country’s flag on the special ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ website. This lively response comes following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a three-day event to celebrate the 77th Independence Day.
The website’s main page gives folks the option to upload selfies with the national flag. Astonishingly, by midday on Tuesday, a whopping 88 million of these flag-waving selfies had already been uploaded. The idea behind this activity is to encourage everyone to put up the Indian flag outside their homes from August 13 to 15, making the entire nation glow with pride and unity.
When you visit the website, you’re given two ways to participate: either upload a selfie with the flag or use a digital version of the flag. If you scroll down, you’ll find pictures of important people like Union Home Minister Amit Shah, former cricket player Parthiv Patel, actor Anupam Kher, and singer Kailash Kher, all happily displaying the Indian flag.
This special event began last year on July 22, when PM Modi introduced it as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ a celebration of 75 years of India’s independence. Lately, the Prime Minister took to social media to rally even more support for the campaign, asking people to change their profile pictures to the national flag – something he himself did too.
To prove how much people love this campaign, ministers from the government participated in the second edition of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ bike rally in Delhi. This rally started with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar waving the flag, and ministers like Kishan Reddy joined in. Kishan Reddy was even seen riding a bike while Anurag Thakur held the flag behind him. During the ride, people shouted out ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ with a lot of excitement. The route took them through famous places like India Gate and Pragati Maidan Tunnel.
The peak of this spirited campaign was the big Independence Day celebration, where PM Modi raised the flag at the Red Fort. Alongside him were important people, ministers, and school children, all sharing the joy of the moment. This event became a special marker in India’s journey towards being a united and free country.
In a world filled with selfies and online activities, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign has shown a strong sense of unity, pride, and love for the nation. With millions of people joining in, this event has painted the Independence Day celebrations with vibrant colours. It’s become a symbol of freedom and unity that India deeply values – showing that when the whole nation comes together, incredible things can happen.
