‘Jailer’ Actor G Marimuthu’s Untimely Demise Shakes the Industry”
The Tamil film industry is in shock as actor-director G Marimuthu, famously known for his role in the blockbuster movie “Jailer,” has passed away due to a heart attack. He was in his late fifties when this tragic incident occurred. Marimuthu’s work in Tamil cinema and television has left a lasting impact, and his loss is deeply felt by both the industry and his fans.
The news of G Marimuthu’s sudden departure was confirmed by Ramesh Bala, a film trade analyst and industry insider, who shared the sad news on X (formerly known as Twitter). Marimuthu was 57 years old and was well-known for his role in the Tamil TV series “Ethirneechal.” Besides his acting career, he was also respected as an assistant director, collaborating with renowned filmmakers like Mani Ratnam.
Ramesh Bala’s tweets expressed the shock and sadness of the industry and fans. In one tweet, he described Marimuthu as a “Popular Tamil character actor” who had gained a significant following for his TV serial dialogues. He offered his condolences and wished for Marimuthu’s soul to rest in peace.
The tragic incident unfolded when G Marimuthu collapsed at around 8:30 am on a Friday morning while working on dubbing for his TV serial “Ethirneechal” in Chennai. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but, unfortunately, was pronounced dead. Johnson, a public relations professional in the South Indian film industry, conveyed this heartbreaking news to the public.
Marimuthu’s loss was a significant blow to the industry, as expressed in Johnson’s tweet. He offered condolences and explained that the cause of death was a cardiac arrest.
The grief was not limited to the industry alone. Actor Radikaa Sarathkumar shared her sadness and shock at Marimuthu’s untimely demise, highlighting his talent and extending condolences to his grieving family. Fans also expressed deep sorrow over the loss of this versatile actor, especially noting his recent success in “Jailer” and his prominence on both the big and small screens.
G Marimuthu’s journey to fame was one of determination and dedication. He had appeared in more than 50 movies, showcasing his talent as an actor and director. His determination led him to leave his hometown of Pasumalaitheri in Theni in 1990, where he initially worked as a waiter in hotels. Fate intervened when he met the renowned lyricist Vairamuthu, opening doors to the film industry.
Marimuthu’s career took off as an assistant director, working on films like “Aranmanai Kili” (1993) and “Ellame En Rasathan” (1995) with director Rajkiran. He continued to contribute to the industry by collaborating with eminent filmmakers like Mani Ratnam, Vasanth, Seeman, and SJ Surya. Notably, he served as a co-director on Silambarasan’s “Manmadhan.”
