Sangareddy, Telangana – The death toll in the tragic chemical explosion at Sigachi Industries’ pharmaceutical plant in Pashamylaram, Sangareddy district, has climbed to 45, officials confirmed on Tuesday, July 1. The explosion, suspected to have resulted from a chemical reaction, occurred on Monday and has left the state in shock.

According to officials, several victims were found buried under the debris. Rescue teams continue to work on the final leg of the operation. A total of 35 individuals are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals, and 10 of them are said to be in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll may rise further.


CM Revanth Reddy Visits Blast Site, Announces Relief

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accompanied by ministers Sridhar Babu, Damodara Raja Narasimha, G Vivek, and P Srinivasa Reddy, visited the blast site on Tuesday to assess the situation. During the site visit, the CM interacted with senior officials and emergency responders, reviewing the progress of the ongoing rescue and relief operations.

Addressing the media, the Chief Minister announced an ex-gratia of ₹1 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.

In addition, the Chief Minister instructed authorities to conduct a comprehensive safety inspection across all chemical manufacturing units in the state to prevent future disasters. A special officer has been appointed to supervise rescue and rehabilitation efforts in the aftermath of the accident.


Rescue Operation Still Underway

District Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj informed PTI that multiple bodies have been retrieved while removing debris from the blast site. The authorities are continuing rescue operations and have ensured that all resources are being mobilized.

Local sources revealed that a sudden chemical reaction might have led to the deadly explosion at the Sigachi facility, although official confirmation is awaited pending a detailed forensic and technical investigation.


CM Criticizes Sigachi Management for Absence and Negligence

“A major accident has taken place. The top management must visit the families of the deceased. You cannot avoid this situation. The Chairman has to come,” the CM said firmly, directing a company official present at the site.

Echoing the CM’s sentiments, State IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu also pulled up the company.

This is a fatal incident. Our government will take this very seriously,” he said, demanding accountability.

The minister also pointed out that the Director of Factories had earlier issued safety warnings to Sigachi Industries, suggesting lapses in the company’s response to regulatory recommendations.


Company Promises to Bear Medical Expenses

In response to government pressure, a company representative assured that Sigachi Industries will bear all medical expenses of those injured in the blast. However, concerns remain over the company’s lack of immediate presence and action following the fatal incident.
