Kamareddy district has been witnessing heavy rains for the past few days. Considering the safety of students, the District Collector instructed the District Educational Officer to declare holidays on August 29 and 30 for all government, private, junior and degree colleges.
Kamareddy: With the district reeling under heavy rains for the past several days, authorities have decided to prioritize the safety of students and staff. On Thursday, the Kamareddy District Collector issued instructions to the District Educational Officer, directing that all educational institutions across the district remain closed on August 29 and 30.
The order covers all categories of institutions—government schools, private schools, junior colleges, and degree colleges—ensuring that students of every age group are not exposed to the risks posed by the relentless downpour. The Collector’s decision comes in the wake of continuous rainfall that has disrupted normal life in many areas of Kamareddy, leaving roads waterlogged, transportation difficult, and concerns rising over the safety of children traveling to and from their schools.
Parents and guardians have welcomed the decision, noting that it provides much-needed relief and peace of mind amid the unpredictable weather. Many families have been struggling to send children safely to school in the middle of water-clogged lanes, slippery pathways, and reports of localized flooding.
For the administration, the move is not merely a routine holiday announcement but a precautionary measure aimed at preventing mishaps. Officials stressed that students should use the days to remain indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay alert to weather updates.
As the rains continue, the district authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation and have assured that further decisions regarding reopening will be taken depending on weather conditions.
