Truck crashes into TSRTC bus in Hyderabad, injuring passengers
After the crash, a shaken passenger remarked, “RTC is finished,” marking yet another Telangana bus accident this month.
Hyderabad: In yet another tragic incident involving a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus, a speeding truck rammed into a stationary bus at Aramghar crossroads in Hyderabad on Friday, November 7. The collision, which occurred early in the morning, left several passengers with minor injuries and caused significant damage to the vehicle.
According to eyewitnesses, the TGSRTC bus had halted briefly at the roadside to pick up passengers when the truck, allegedly traveling at high speed, lost control and slammed into its rear. The impact was so strong that the tail lights and back panels of the bus were completely shattered. Panic gripped the passengers, many of whom were jolted out of their seats. A few sustained bruises and sprains while trying to steady themselves.
Within minutes, bystanders and other motorists rushed to help those inside the bus. Some passengers were seen comforting each other, visibly shaken by the sudden crash. A video of the incident, which later surfaced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), shows passengers inspecting the wrecked back portion of the bus while a few others express anger and disbelief.
One passenger, still trembling from the shock, was heard saying, “The RTC is done and dusted,” a remark that reflected the growing frustration among regular commuters over the increasing number of RTC-related accidents in the state.
Soon after the accident, local police and rescue teams arrived at the spot. The injured were provided first aid, and those with minor wounds were taken to a nearby hospital for observation. The Rajendranagar police registered a case and have launched an investigation to determine whether the truck driver was speeding or driving under the influence. Authorities said the driver fled the scene, and efforts are underway to trace him.
The TGSRTC management expressed concern over the recurring accidents and assured that safety protocols would be reviewed. “Passenger safety is our top priority. We are coordinating with the police to understand how this accident occurred,” an official said.
This latest crash comes just four days after a devastating accident on November 3 in Mirzaguda on Chevella Road, where a TGSRTC bus carrying around 70 passengers collided with a tipper truck loaded with crushed concrete. The collision was catastrophic — seventeen passengers were buried alive under gravel, and both drivers died instantly. The incident shocked Telangana, sparking widespread debate on road safety and the working conditions of transport staff.
In the wake of repeated tragedies, citizens have begun questioning the condition of the state’s public transport system and the lack of enforcement on overloaded and overspeeding vehicles. “It’s terrifying,” said a daily commuter from Aramghar. “Every other week, there’s news of an RTC bus accident. Something has to change.”
Traffic experts have also called for better monitoring of heavy vehicles, stricter penalties for negligent driving, and refresher training programs for RTC drivers. They argue that while road expansion projects are ongoing across Hyderabad, driver fatigue, mechanical issues, and lack of discipline among private truck operators continue to pose major risks.
For now, the passengers of Friday’s accident are recovering, but the sense of fear remains. As Hyderabad’s roads grow busier and accidents more frequent, many are hoping the government will take stronger steps to ensure that a simple bus ride doesn’t turn into another tragedy.
