Telugu Student’s Dream Turns to Tragedy: 23-Year-Old Dies in the US Days After Completing MS

Hyderabad: In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 23-year-old woman from Andhra Pradesh, who had recently completed her Master’s degree in the United States, was found dead in her apartment by her roommates.

The young woman, Yarlagadda Rajyalakshmi, hailed from Karanchedu village in Bapatla district. She was the beloved daughter of Yarlagadda Ramakrishna and Nagamani, who had proudly watched her pursue her dream of studying abroad.

Rajyalakshmi had completed her engineering degree from a private college in Vijayawada before moving to the US in 2023 for higher studies. She joined Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, where she earned her MS in Computer Science. Friends and family describe her as a bright, hardworking student who was full of dreams and determination. She had just begun looking for job opportunities in the US, hoping to start her professional journey soon.

Tragically, those dreams were cut short. According to reports, Rajyalakshmi had spoken to her family three days before her death and mentioned that she was suffering from a cold and fatigue. Concerned, she had booked a doctor’s appointment for the following Monday.

However, on Friday morning, her roommates tried to wake her up but received no response. Panicked, they rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. The exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed, but preliminary reports suggest a possible medical emergency.

Back home in Andhra Pradesh, the news of her sudden death sent shockwaves through her family and village. Her parents reportedly fell unconscious upon hearing the news, and the entire community in Karanchedu is mourning the loss of a daughter whose life had just begun to blossom.

Efforts are now underway to bring Rajyalakshmi’s mortal remains back to India. For her grieving parents, what was once a story of pride and promise has turned into an unbearable tragedy — a reminder of how fragile life can be, even for those chasing their dreams far from home.
