Hyderabad set for three days of welcome rainfall ahead.

Weather officials say the chill won’t deepen, with only minimal chances of a cold wave affecting Hyderabad in coming days.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad and the eastern districts of Telangana are expected to experience spells of rain over the next three days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) attributing the changing conditions. The city, which has been witnessing mild winter conditions so far, is now preparing for a short but possibly intense spell of weather activity.

For now, officials say there is very little chance of a cold wave settling over the region. However, they have not ruled out varying conditions depending on how the weather system evolves in the coming days.

Cyclone alert issued

While Hyderabad braces for rainfall, the more immediate concern lies farther east. The IMD has issued a cyclone-related alert for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, cautioning residents and authorities about the impact of the cyclonic circulation.

The warning has prompted preparedness across the islands, where even mild disturbances at sea can significantly disrupt movement and daily activities.

The IMD noted that sea conditions around the region are expected to remain rough for the next few days. Fishermen have been strongly advised not to venture into the Andaman Sea until at least November 23. Port Blair Port has already been placed under Local Cautionary Signal-3, indicating the need for heightened vigilance.

Authorities have urged boat owners, islanders, and tourists to exercise maximum caution. With strong waves and unpredictable currents expected, the administration stressed that recreational and ferry-related activities should be conducted with extreme care. Even experienced seafarers have been warned to stay close to shore and delay non-essential trips.

Possible weather shift if system intensifies

Meteorologists say that the cyclonic circulation could behave in multiple ways depending on how quickly it consolidates. One senior official explained a more concerning possibility: if the system’s formation gets delayed, it might intensify into a much stronger cyclone.

“In case system formation gets delayed, there is a chance it could turn into a monstrous cyclone,” he said. Such a development, he added, could pull in dry winds afterward, potentially triggering a cold wave across Telangana. The region might then see a significant dip in night temperatures, accompanied by dry and crisp winter conditions.

For now, though, that scenario remains only a possibility. Much depends on how the system behaves over the next 48 hours—a window that meteorologists often describe as crucial.

Hyderabad’s weather outlook

As things stand, residents of Hyderabad can expect skies to turn cloudy, with intermittent showers likely in parts of the city. The rains may bring temporary relief from the dry spell, and officials do not anticipate any severe flooding or intense downpour. However, brief spells of moderate rain and thunderstorms cannot be ruled out.

Transport authorities have advised commuters to plan ahead during the rainy window, as traffic snarls are common when showers coincide with rush hours. Those living in low-lying areas have been encouraged to remain alert, especially if rainfall persists for more than a few hours.

Even as forecasts vary, one thing is clear: Hyderabad is in for a period of fluctuating weather. “It’s most likely that for three days, Hyderabad may witness either rains or a shift toward cold-wave conditions,” the IMD official said. “It all depends on this system’s formation.”

For residents, the next few days will bring a mix of anticipation and caution — umbrella in one hand, sweater in the other, waiting to see which way the winds decide to turn.
