Actor Kamal R Khan arrested for firing at Mumbai residential building
A case has been filed against the actor under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act provisions.
Mumbai authorities have arrested actor Kamal Rashid Khan, widely known as KRK, in connection with a firing incident at a residential building in the western suburbs of the city. The arrest comes after police investigations revealed that bullets were discharged into a society in the Oshiwara area of Andheri, raising concerns about public safety and the misuse of firearms.
Khan was brought in for questioning to the Oshiwara police station late on Friday night. During his statement, the actor admitted to firing two rounds from his licensed firearm, a police official confirmed. The disclosure has intensified scrutiny over the incident, which occurred on January 18 at Nalanda Society.
Police investigations revealed that two bullets were found inside the premises — one on the second floor and the other on the fourth floor. The flats hit by the bullets belong to a writer-director and a model, authorities said. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident left residents shaken and concerned about their safety.
Initial attempts to trace the firing through CCTV footage were unsuccessful, as the cameras did not capture any clear evidence. However, forensic analysis later indicated that the bullets were likely fired from Khan’s bungalow located nearby. The revelation connected the actor directly to the incident and provided critical leads for the investigation.
Despite confirming the source of the bullets, police are yet to ascertain the exact motive behind the shooting. Authorities continue to probe whether the firing was an intentional act, a threat, or stemmed from a personal dispute. Residents of the society expressed shock at the incident, highlighting the unexpected nature of the event in what is usually considered a peaceful residential area.
A formal case has been registered against Khan under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. The registration of the case ensures that legal proceedings can be initiated and that the matter will be thoroughly investigated. Police officials emphasized that strict action will be taken if the allegations are proven, sending a strong message regarding the responsible use of firearms.
The arrest of a high-profile figure like KRK has drawn attention not only from local residents but also from the media, raising questions about celebrity conduct and accountability. While investigations continue, authorities have assured that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure the safety of the community and uphold the law.
The unfolding case underscores the potential dangers posed by firearms in residential areas and reinforces the need for careful regulation and responsible ownership. As the probe progresses, police will focus on understanding the circumstances that led to the incident and determining whether additional charges may be warranted.
