Ajit Pawar Launches Pune Zilla Parishad Campaign from Baramati
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar officially kick-started the Pune Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti election campaign at a public event held in Baramati’s Kanheri village. Emphasising a clear direction for the upcoming civic polls, Pawar underlined the importance of dedicated political leadership and signalled a shift in candidate priorities.
Pawar made it clear that his party would focus on youth and women candidates, offering new opportunities for fresh faces and encouraging educated, motivated individuals to take part in grassroots governance. He also firmly stated that government contractors looking to enter politics would need to choose between their business and public service, making a case for full-time engagement in political work.
Highlighting Baramati’s ongoing growth story, Pawar pointed to several major development plans already in progress. These include significant investments in education, healthcare, irrigation and water infrastructure, such as a new study centre, an Ayurvedic college, irrigation projects and upgraded water systems, aimed at strengthening the region’s socio-economic base.
The event also reinforced the NCP’s strategic push to expand its footprint in local governance by energising its cadre and presenting a renewed leadership slate at the district level ahead of the elections.
