Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri to star in Netflix thriller Maa Behen

The film mixes dark humor with suspense. It tells the story of Rekha and her two daughters, Jaya and Sushma. Their quiet lives take a strange turn after a shocking incident. One day, they find their neighbour’s dead body inside their kitchen. This single event pulls them into chaos and unwanted attention.
The setting is a conservative neighbourhood where gossip spreads fast. As questions rise, the three women struggle to stay calm and protect each other. The story looks at fear, family bonds, and survival, but with a comic edge.
“Maa Behen” is directed by Suresh Triveni. The story is written by Triveni along with Pooja Tolani. Tolani has also written the screenplay and dialogues. The film is produced by Vikram Malhotra and Suresh Triveni under Abundantia Entertainment, along with Opening Image Films.
Madhuri Dixit said the script caught her attention right away. She shared that she has always admired Triveni’s work. When he approached her with the story, she felt an instant connection.
“When Sureshji came to me with the script, I was very interested,” Madhuri said. When he narrated the story, it felt like a tale of a slightly broken family. I enjoyed listening to it.”
She also said comedy was a big reason she agreed to do the film. “That made me excited. Once we started shooting, everything felt natural.
Madhuri spoke warmly about the atmosphere on set. She said the teamwork made the shoot enjoyable. According to her, everyone understood each other well, which helped bring the story to life.
The Netflix event also had a fun moment that thrilled fans. Hosts Aparshakti Khurana and Jamie Lever asked Madhuri to dance. They requested her iconic song “Dhak Dhak Karne Laga” from the 1992 film “Beta”.
Madhuri happily agreed. She recreated her famous steps from the song. The audience cheered loudly as she danced with grace and ease, reminding everyone why she remains a timeless star.
Triptii Dimri also spoke about her experience on the film. She shared her excitement about working with Madhuri. Triptii said she has been a fan of Madhuri for a long time.
“The credit goes to the director, producer, and writer for creating such a warm space. I am a huge fan of Madhuri ma’am. She is inspiring.”
