Cold Wind Leads Delhi to Shivers At 1.9 Degrees, Delays Trains and Flights

Safdarjung in Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 1.9 degrees Celsius on Sunday amid a cold wave that affected portions of northern India, according to the India Meteorological Department.
The IMD further noted that Aya Nagar, a neighbourhood in Delhi, registered a minimum temperature of 2.6 degrees Celsius, while Lodhi Road registered 2.8 degrees Celsius and Palam 5.2 degrees Celsius.
On Sunday morning, Delhi and the surrounding areas were shrouded in a heavy layer of fog that reduced visibility. Conditions are still extremely cold and foggy in the nation’s capital and the adjacent regions.
According to a Delhi airport official, some 20 planes from Indira Gandhi International Airport were delayed on Sunday as a result of hazy conditions and other operational problems.
42 trains were delayed by one hour to five hours as a result of the fog, according to a Northern Railway representative.
According to the IMD, a cold wave and frigid days will persist throughout northwest India over the next two days until Monday.
According to the weather service, after two days from Tuesday, minimum temperatures are quite likely to rise by roughly 2 degrees Celsius over various areas of the plains of Northwest India. East India is expected to experience little to no variation in lowest temperatures during the next three days, up to Tuesday, then an increase of roughly 2 to 3 degrees Celsius following that.
According to the weather service, a minimum temperature drops of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is extremely likely to occur over Madhya Pradesh over the next two days until Monday, followed by three days of little to no change till Thursday.
According to the IMD, dense to very dense fog is very likely to persist in some/many locations during the night and morning hours over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh during the next two days until Monday and in isolated pockets subsequently for the following three days over the region.
According to the weather office, very ground frost conditions will prevail on January 8 and 9 in a few isolated locations of north Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
