The tweeter also added some text to it and that is where the actual issues arose. The caption to the picture stated that namaz was offered in front of the Vidhan Sabha of Lucknow, which was originally said to be a metro station.
The content she posted was termed false and also was said to be promoting enmity. And that’s how Uzma Parveen got a complaint filed against her.
The issue happened in HussainGanj, Lucknow, and came to public light only after Uzma posted the picture on the Twitter platform.
The Hussainganj police registered a case against the AIMIM leader as soon as the issue was reported to them on Wednesday.
The complaint said that Uzma offered namaz in a metro station which was considered an ‘obstruction of the public way’ and that Uzma shared false information about the place being Vidhan Sabha.
According to the information provided, the sections filed against Uzma were IPC 153 A for promoting enmity, IPC 200 for sharing false information, and IPC 283 for obstructing the public way.
Uzma was accused of disturbing the peace on the internet as the post caused some sort of controversy and we can see people arguing in the comment section.
In Uzma’s post, she wrote – “our country is free, that’s why I have the right to offer prayer freely” (this is a translation of what she wrote in Hindi).
Many netizens commented on the post, some are supporting the act while others called the act “attention seeking” and “disturbing harmony”.
Uzma’s reaction to the news circulating shows that she is firm with her act and doesn’t consider what she has done as a mistake. Uzma was also seen tweeting some replies to the news articles about her and the issue.
Uzma has always been an active participant in promoting Muslim rights and AIMIM activities. And Uzma was also said to have signed the nomination for the Vidhan Sabha, now the question is – if this issue is going to affect anything in that plan of hers. Further news is awaited.
