BJP claims Congress won Jubilee Hills using money, AIMIM support
Reddy said the BJP will review the bypoll outcome and intensify its efforts to secure the Mayor’s post in the GHMC elections.
Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has launched a sharp attack on the Congress Party following its victory in the Jubilee Hills by-election, alleging that the ruling party secured the win through large-scale distribution of money and covert backing from the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). Speaking to reporters, Reddy claimed that the bypoll outcome was neither surprising nor clean, emphasizing that “everyone in Hyderabad knows what happened during the election.”
According to Reddy, crores of rupees were seized just a day before polling, and the circumstances surrounding the recovery raise serious questions. He alleged that the cash trail clearly points toward the Congress Party and its supporters. The Union Minister said the BJP will file a formal complaint with the Election Commission, insisting that such “misuse of power and money” must not be normalized in the democratic process.
Reddy added that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would conduct an internal review of the bypoll results and sharpen its strategy ahead of the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections. He assured party workers that the BJP would redouble its efforts and work in a more focused manner to secure the Mayor’s post—a long-standing goal for the party in the city.
Kishan Reddy Links Bihar Verdict to PM Modi’s Leadership
Switching to national politics, Reddy credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the NDA’s emphatic victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, where the coalition secured an overwhelming mandate. He noted that under PM Modi’s leadership, economic and administrative reforms across the country were picking up pace and resonating with the public.
Drawing comparisons with other states, the Union Minister said the electoral verdicts from Haryana, Maharashtra, and now Bihar form a pattern that, according to him, reflects India’s political mood. Reddy even predicted that if elections were held today in the three Congress-ruled states, the party would undoubtedly lose power.
BJP’s Performance in Jubilee Hills: “A Sincere Effort,” Says Reddy
In his statement issued from Delhi on Friday, Reddy addressed both the Jubilee Hills by-election and the Bihar results. He pointed out that the BJP has historically struggled in the Jubilee Hills constituency, where it has never won an election and does not even have corporators to mobilize grassroots support. Despite these structural disadvantages, he said, the party put up a determined fight.
He acknowledged that ruling parties enjoy certain advantages during by-elections, including organizational leverage and greater visibility in governance. However, Reddy argued that this win should not be interpreted as a referendum on Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s performance. “A bypoll cannot be taken as a measure of the government’s approval,” he said, urging BJP workers not to be demoralized by the result.
BRS Also Distributed Money, Claims Reddy
Escalating his accusations, the Union Minister alleged that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) also distributed money during the by-election, claiming that multiple parties attempted to influence the voter base. He asserted that these allegations reflect a deeper problem in Telangana politics and called for a stronger enforcement mechanism to ensure clean elections.
Reddy further claimed that the political winds in Telangana are now blowing in favour of the BJP, pointing to the party’s improved performance in recent Assembly, Lok Sabha, and Legislative Council elections. He said that although the Jubilee Hills result was disappointing, it does not reflect the broader momentum the BJP has built across the state.
BJP to Strengthen Organisational Structure
Looking ahead, Reddy emphasized that the BJP is committed to expanding its organisational presence across Telangana. He said the party is preparing for a more aggressive outreach campaign targeting urban and rural voters alike. Strengthening booth committees, expanding grassroots engagement, and building stronger alliances will be key priorities in the coming months, he added.
Reddy concluded by urging party workers to stay motivated and continue their efforts with renewed energy. He said the BJP’s vision for Telangana is gaining acceptance and that the party is confident of making major gains in the next round of elections across the state.
