Jagannath Waghmare, a resident of Satara who arrived in Dadar, expressed, “I am here to pay my respects to Babasaheb. He is like a messiah to us. We are here only because of Ambedkar.Even in the afterlife, I will remain grateful for all that he has done for me, my community, and the entire nation. Thousands of Dalits and followers of Ambedkar echoed this sentiment as they congregated at Chaitya Bhoomi in Chowpatty to commemorate the 67th death anniversary of the visionary leader. Civic estimates anticipate that over six lakh followers will converge in the city on Wednesday, continuing a tradition that dates back to 1956, the year of Ambedkar’s passing.
