Another notable actor from Telugu cinema has left the industry. A senior actor fell suddenly less than 24 hours after Kaikala Satyanarayana’s funeral rites, leaving the cinema industry in mourning.
This morning at his home, veteran Tollywood actor Chalapathi Rao passed away after a heart attack. He was 78. The two daughters and wife of Chalapathi Rao are still alive. He has been away from acting for a while as a result of health problems.
1944 saw the birth of Chalapathi Rao in Balliparru, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. With the support of Sr. NTR, he entered the film industry. With the 1966 release of the film “Gudachari 116,” Rao made his acting debut. Rao won accolades from everyone for his roles as a supporting actor and villain in the movies of Sr. NTR, Krishna, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi, and Venkatesh.
In a career spanning more than five decades, Rao appeared in more than 600 movies. His production work includes the movies “Kaliyuga Krishnadu,” “Kadapa Reddamm,” “Jagannatakam,” “Pellante Nurella Panta,” “Presidentigari Alludu,” “Ardharatri Hatyalu,” and “Raktham Chindina Raatri.”
With Sr. NTR, Chalapathi Rao enjoys a unique relationship. Three generations of actors appeared on his screen. He is highly known for his movies like “Yamagola,” “Yugapurushu,” “Driver Rama,” “Akbar Saleem Anarkali,” “Bhale Krishna,” “Saradha Rama,” “Justice Chaudhary,” “Bobbili Puli,” “Fight with Law,” “Thief Rama,” “Allari Alludu,” “Allari,” “Ninne Pelladata,” “Nuvve Kavali,” “Sin After “Bangarraju” was released last year, he was not seen again on film.
According to his family, Chalapathi Rao’s final rituals would be performed once his daughter arrives from America. For the uninitiated, Ravi Babu, an actor and filmmaker, is Chalapathi Rao’s son. Fans may pay their final respects by visiting his mortal remains until Sunday afternoon at Ravi Babu’s residence in Banjara Hills. The funeral service will take place on December 28 around 3 p.m.
