Cockroach Janta Party Demands Education Minister’s Resignation, Calls for June 6 Protest in Delhi
New Delhi: In its first-ever press conference, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Wednesday said it was open to dialogue with both the government and Opposition parties while intensifying its campaign over alleged irregularities in the education sector. The party reiterated its demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and announced plans for a protest in the national capital on June 6.
Addressing the media at the Constitution Club of India, CJP spokesperson and independent journalist Saurav Das criticized the recent transfer of CBSE Chairperson Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta, calling the move an “eyewash” rather than genuine accountability.
“We have given an open call. We are ready to have a dialogue with everybody, whether those in power or the Opposition,” Das said while referring to CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke’s appeal for public participation in the upcoming demonstration.
Das argued that the transfers were being projected as corrective action despite deeper concerns within the education system. “We are demanding accountability. We have been seeking the education minister’s resignation, but no action has been taken. The transfers are being presented as action, but they do not address the root issues,” he said.
According to party leaders, Dipke, who is currently pursuing higher education in the United States, is expected to arrive in Delhi on the morning of June 6. Upon landing, he plans to approach Parliament Street Police Station to seek permission for the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar.
The party also announced that noted climate activist Sonam Wangchuk is expected to participate in the demonstration. CJP representatives said the event aims to bring together students, young professionals, and citizens concerned about transparency and accountability in education-related institutions.
Another party spokesperson, Vijeta Dahiya, suggested that any action against Dipke upon his return could further strengthen public support for the movement.
The party said it intends to expand its outreach and continue raising concerns over education governance in the coming weeks.
