The leaders of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), who are fighting for the protection of the agricultural sector against the corporate forces, called for victory in the 35th National Congress of Birsamunda Jayanthi today during the unveiling of the AIKS flag at the Telangana Rythu Sangam state office.

As part of a nationwide call for the victory of the AIKS Mahasabha held in Thrissur, Kerala from December 13 to 16, flag unveiling was held at 500 centers across the state of Telangana. As part of that, the state vice-president Bontala Chandra Reddy unveiled the flag at the Hyderabad state office. In this program, the State Chief Secretary T. Sagar, State Vice-Presidents Dr. Aribandi Prasad Rao, P. Jangareddy, DYFI State Presidents Kota Ramesh, Rahul and others participated.

Speaking on this occasion, they said that the central government has failed to fulfill its promises to the farmers. It promised to enact the Minimum Support Price Act and withdraw the Electricity Amendment Bill. But till date there has been no attempt at support price legislation. The Electricity Amendment Bill was introduced in the Parliament. Every year more than 10 thousand farmers commit suicide across the country. But, the central government is not making any effort to prevent these. While farmers’ unions are agitating across the country to waive farmers’ loans, the central government has given 11 lakh crores of subsidies to corporates. Crop insurance scheme is more beneficial to insurance companies than farmers. They demanded to give pension to farmers and agricultural labourers. The Prime Minister asked to increase the Kisan Samman scheme to Rs.18,000.
