Huma Qureshi’s cousin killed in Delhi for parking dispute.

A simple request to move a scooter turned into a horrifying tragedy for the family of Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi on Thursday night, leaving them grappling with grief and disbelief.

It was around 10 pm in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area when 38-year-old Asif Qureshi, cousin of the actor, asked two young men to shift their scooter, which was parked directly in front of the entrance to his house. According to his family, it was not an argument meant to escalate — just a plea for convenience and respect for space. But what followed unfolded into a fatal confrontation.

From a Minor Dispute to Violence

Recounting the incident, Shaheen Asif Qureshi, one of Asif’s wives, said:
My husband politely asked him to move it so it wouldn’t block our entrance. Instead of agreeing, the man abused Asif and threatened to come back.”

The words of anger quickly turned into action. Within minutes, the man returned — this time with his brother. Armed with a sharp weapon, the two confronted Asif, and before anyone could intervene, they stabbed him multiple times.

“I called Javed, my brother-in-law, in panic. I was screaming for help, but it all happened so fast. He collapsed right there.”

The Race to Save Him

Neighbours and family rushed Asif to the National Heart Institute in East of Kailash. But despite desperate efforts, doctors declared him “brought dead.”

The suddenness of the loss has left the family shattered. “Just a few minutes earlier, he was talking to us, asking for dinner. And then… he was gone,” said one grieving relative.

Family in Mourning

“Two boys parked their scooter in front of the house. He only asked them to move it aside. That’s all. And for that, they killed him,” he said, still struggling to understand how something so trivial could cost a life.

Asif, known in his neighbourhood as a warm and helpful man, leaves behind a grieving family — including his wives, children, and extended relatives.

The Accused in Custody

Police have identified the two accused as Ujjwal (19) and Gautam (18).

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with the offence of murder. Investigators say the accused confessed during questioning that they acted in anger after feeling “insulted” by Asif’s request.

A Community Shaken

Residents of the Nizamuddin area say they are disturbed by the senseless nature of the killing. “If something as small as a parking request can lead to murder, then where is the safety in our own homes?” asked one neighbour.

Some have also pointed out that disputes over parking and public space have been increasing in congested localities, often leading to heated exchanges. But this incident, many agree, shows how unchecked tempers can destroy lives.

Remembering Asif

Relatives describe Asif as someone who valued family, enjoyed long evening conversations, and was deeply rooted in his community. “He never liked fights. He would usually walk away from trouble. That’s why this is so hard to believe,” said a cousin.

The grief is also being felt in the entertainment industry, where Huma Qureshi’s friends and colleagues have expressed condolences. While the actor has not yet released a public statement, those close to her say she is devastated by the loss.

Seeking Justice

The family has vowed to pursue justice for Asif. “We cannot bring him back, but we want to make sure no other family has to go through this because of such mindless violence,” Shaheen said.

For now, the Qureshi household remains draped in mourning. The laughter and chatter that once filled the home have been replaced by silence, interrupted only by the quiet sobs of those remembering a life cut short.
