According to reports, the accused, 24-year-old Uma Shanker, entered the girl’s residence the following day in a drunken state. In a shocking act of violence, he slit Pavitra’s throat, killing her on the spot.
Authorities revealed that the motive behind the horrific attack was twofold: Pavitra had allegedly not informed the accused about her trip to Vijayawada and had rejected his proposal of marriage. After committing the crime, Shanker fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of fear and confusion.
CCTV Footage Leads to Arrest
Police quickly launched an investigation and relied on CCTV footage from the vicinity to track the accused. The surveillance helped them trace his movements, and he was apprehended while traveling toward Skandagiri Temple in Chilkalguda.
