IMD issued a heavy rainfall warning for these four states till July 7
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated on Tuesday that an intense rainstorm is predicted to continue over south Peninsular India, north Maharashtra, and Gujarat until July 6 and July 8, respectively. Several districts in Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal received heavy rain warnings from the central weather forecasting office until July 8.
The IMD predicted that heavy to very heavy rain is highly likely to continue over Southern India for the next three days in its most recent weather report. Additionally, it indicated that on July 4 there will be isolated “extremely heavy rainfall” over north Kerala and the coastal and ghat regions of south-central Karnataka. For six districts of Kerala and Karnataka, the IMD has issued a “red alert.”
On Tuesday, a red alert was issued for Idukki, Kannur, and Kasaragod in Kerala; meanwhile, an alert was issued for Uttar Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshin Kannada in Karnataka.
The IMD has issued an “orange” notice for 12 of Kerala’s districts for Wednesday and a “yellow” alert for just one, Kollam. Six districts in Karnataka — Belgaum, Uttar Kannada, Bellary, Shimoga, Chikmagalur, and Dakshin Kannada — have received an “orange” signal from the meteorology office.
The Goa and Ghat regions of central Maharashtra will have heavy to very severe rainfall during the next five days, according to the weather service, as well Gujarat on July 6 and 7.
The Konkan and Goa regions, as well as the ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat on July 7th, are also likely to have isolated, exceptionally heavy rains, according to the IMD.
The IMD has issued a “yellow alert” for July 7 for Surat, Navsari, Bhavnagar, Botad, and Surendranagar and a “red alert” for three districts in Gujarat: Amreli, Gir Somnath, and Valsad.
Over the next five days, there is a very good chance of seeing heavy rain in the northern states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Heavy rains are predicted to fall in East Uttar Pradesh till July 6, and in Punjab and Haryana until July 8. Between July 5 and July 8, East Rajasthan is anticipated to see significant rainfall, and July 7 and 8 for West Rajasthan.
‘Fairly widespread’ to ‘isolated heavy’ rainfall is extremely expected over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha over the next five days in the east and neighbouring Northeast India. Over the following three days, it’s also likely that Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur may have severe rain.
