IMD issues a two-day heatwave alert for Telangana and Andhra.
Scientists from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Monday that Telangana is expected to experience a heatwave for two days and Andhra Pradesh for one day.
Sravani, a scientist at the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, told reporters that severe storms started across Telangana.
observing that South Chhattisgarh is in a trough. South-westerly and north-westerly winds have been dominating the state for the past 24 hours.
It will continue over the following 24 hours, especially in the state’s north. Westerlies are dominant in the southern region.
According to her, Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts are likely to experience a heatwave.
Because the temperatures are rising steadily, she added, “heat wave conditions are also anticipated in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Medak, Adilabad, Nirmal, Hanumakonda, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Khammam.”
The IMD scientist said, “At this moment, the temperature should have been between 36 and 38 degrees. However, the state is feeling uncomfortable when the temperature reaches 40 to 41 degrees. In the upcoming 24 hours, we expect similar weather.
She stated that the northern and eastern regions of Telangana state might experience thunderstorms and strong winds, while the centre region should expect thunderstorms, lightning, and scattered downpours.
The following three days had mostly the same weather. The temps are trending downward. Within the following 5 days, 38-40 degrees are what we can expect. The monsoonal weather, particularly in the southern regions of Telangana, is expected to begin on June 15 or 16, along with the monsoonal winds.
According to the IMD scientist, Hyderabad will experience a heatwave with temperatures in the 38–40-degree range during the next two days. Following that, the temperature will drop, and thundershowers are predicted for that evening.
Sravani said that the thunderstorms and strong winds are predicted to last for the next two to three days, and that moderate rainfall is expected in several districts in Andhra Pradesh’s southern regions.
“Moderate rainfall is predicted in the southern portions of the Andhra Pradesh districts of Nellore and Chittoor. In the next few of days, monsoonal rain is expected in the coastal states of Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
The expert predicted that when the temperature dropped, the weather returned to normal. “Thunderstorm activity will also be expected in the north coastal Andhra Pradesh and areas of Rayalaseema,” she continued.
For the next three days, there will be thunderstorms and strong winds. Because the monsoonal onset will already be present in the southern regions of Andhra Pradesh, the heatwave conditions will begin to abate starting tomorrow.
It will reach to Rayalaseema and the southern coast of Andhra Pradesh in the following couple of days.
