KTR challenges CM to win Jubilee Hills on merit
KTR urged Jubilee Hills voters to end two years of corruption, arrogance, and misrule by delivering a strong, decisive verdict.
Hyderabad: In a fiery campaign speech ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election , Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and Sircilla MLA K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Friday, November 7 , threw down the gauntlet to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy , challenging him to seek votes purely on the strength of his government’s performance.
Speaking at a massive roadshow in Vengalrao Nagar , KTR accused the Congress-led state government of two years of corruption, arrogance, and administrative collapse , contrasting it sharply with what he described as the BRS’s decade-long record of development, welfare, and progress.
“If you have faith in your governance, why fear the people’s verdict? Why hide behind excuses.
KTR urged voters in Jubilee Hills to deliver a “decisive verdict” that would not only ensure a BRS win but also send a clear message to the Congress that Telangana’s people would not tolerate betrayal and misrule. “This election is not just about one constituency—it’s about showing the Congress that their two years of deception and destruction cannot erase ten years of progress under the BRS,” he said.
‘BRS delivered, Congress destroyed’
KTR listed out what he called the transformational achievements of the BRS government under K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) . “Under BRS rule, Telangana emerged as a national leader—in IT, industry, infrastructure, and social welfare,” he said. “We built 42 flyovers and underpasses across Hyderabad under the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) , launched the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) and a network of government hospitals, and provided one lakh double-bedroom homes for the poor.”
He highlighted that during the BRS regime, Telangana’s economy consistently ranked among the top-performing states in India, attracting record investment and creating jobs. “From Microsoft to Amazon, from Google to Apple—every global tech company invested here because of our stability and vision. And now, in just two years, Congress has managed to undo that trust.”
‘Jobs lost, investments gone’
KTR accused the Revanth Reddy government of stalling projects, destroying confidence, and driving away investment . “In the past two years, thousands of jobs have been lost,” he said. “Real estate has crashed, small traders are struggling, and the transport sector is bleeding. Investors are choosing Bengaluru and Chennai again because they no longer see Hyderabad as stable.”
He added that the Congress government’s policies were marked by arrogance and neglect. “They spend more time attacking the BRS than addressing people’s problems,” he said. “They promised six guarantees before the election—ask them how many have they delivered?”
HYDRAA demolition drive sparks fury
KTR launched a scathing attack on the Congress for what he called its “selective demolition politics.” Referring to the controversial operations of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) , he accused the government of targeting the poor while sparing the rich and powerful.
“HYDRAA’s bulldozers have stopped only at the homes of the poor,” KTR thundered. “If Revanth Reddy truly believes in justice, let him start demolishing his ministers’ illegal buildings first. Don’t punish the helpless while protecting your cronies.”
His remarks struck a chord with residents affected by the demolition drives, who turned out in large numbers at the roadshow. Many chanted slogans against what they called the government’s double standards.
‘Congress betrayed every section’
The former minister accused the Congress government of betraying every major section of society —farmers, students, youth, women, and employees. “They made grand promises under their so-called six guarantees—free gas, farm loan waivers, financial support for women and youth—but what have they delivered? Empty words and excuses,” KTR said.
He urged voters not to fall for false promises again. “Defeat them so they are forced to implement their guarantees. Show them that people are watching.”
‘Revanth’s hypocrisy on NTR’
KTR also took aim at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent praise of late Telugu Desam Party founder N. T. Rama Rao (NTR) , calling it “the height of political hypocrisy.”
“The Congress party, which overthrew NTR’s democratically elected government in 1982, now garlands his statue for votes,” KTR said. And now Revanth Reddy, who once insulted NTR, suddenly pretends to revere him? Telangana’s people know the truth.”
‘Hyderabad won’t tolerate deceit’
Concluding his speech, KTR appealed to the voters of Jubilee Hills to send a strong message against arrogance and deceit . “Use your vote to protect Telangana’s self-respect,” he said. “Hyderabad will not tolerate misrule, corruption, and fake promises. Let your verdict be the people’s answer to Revanth Reddy’s failures.”
The BRS working president’s remarks came as campaigning intensified ahead of the high-stakes Jubilee Hills by-poll , which has become a symbolic contest between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS . With both parties seeing the election as a test of strength before next year’s municipal polls, KTR’s aggressive challenge has raised the political temperature across Hyderabad.
