KTR to face SIT questioning; police guard BRS office.
Heavy police deployment has been made at Telangana Bhavan, the office of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and at Jubilee Hills police station since morning, as BRS Sircilla MLA and party working president KT Rama Rao is scheduled to appear before authorities in connection with the ongoing phone-tapping investigation.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Hyderabad police, probing the case, issued a notice directing KT Rama Rao to appear on Friday, January 23, at 11 am. In response, KT Rama Rao left his residence in a convoy of vehicles, heading first to Telangana Bhavan. After meeting with party leaders, he is expected to proceed to Jubilee Hills police station. Tight security arrangements have been put in place at both locations to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents.
This is not the first time BRS leaders have been questioned in this case. Earlier, on Tuesday, January 12, senior party leader Harish Rao was questioned for eight hours by the Telangana Police SIT. Rao, a former minister, was named as an accused in the phone-tapping case. However, the Telangana High Court dismissed the case against him, a decision that was later upheld by the Supreme Court after the state government’s appeal was rejected.
Following Harish Rao’s interrogation, Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar urged the public not to believe, spread, or circulate any false reports regarding the Siddipet MLA’s questioning, emphasizing that the Supreme Court had already quashed the case against him.
With KT Rama Rao now set to be examined, authorities have taken all necessary precautions to ensure the process remains smooth and orderly, reflecting both the high-profile nature of the investigation and the commitment of police to maintain peace during such sensitive proceedings.
