The Forest Department is actively searching for the elusive leopard that has been roaming in the Kadugodi (Whitefield) area.

N Ravindra Kumar, deputy conservator of forests, Bengaluru Urban, reported that despite deploying staff and conducting thorough searches, they have not yet located the leopard. In such areas with small patches of forest land, it’s not uncommon for leopards to venture out during the dark hours, according to another forest official.

Following the CCTV footage on October 27, which captured the leopard entering the city and subsequently disappearing, extensive patrols involving 30-35 staff members in Kudlu Gate have been conducted without success. While public concern is understandable, no further updates have been received since the initial incident. Given the proximity of Bannerghatta National Park, approximately 8km away, there is a possibility that the leopard might return.

To ensure public safety, Kumar advises against early morning and late-night walks, urging parents to keep children indoors. Two trap cages have already been deployed, with an additional two scheduled for placement tomorrow. Kumar emphasizes that there’s no need for panic, and the department is committed to determining the origin of this big cat’s appearance. Stay vigilant, and we’ll keep you posted on further developments.
