Mayawati Slams SP’s PDA Politics, Accuses It of Misusing Dalits for Votes
In a series of strongly worded posts on social media platform X on Thursday, Mayawati claimed that the SP, like many other parties, was attempting to use Dalits as tools to provoke social unrest and gain electoral advantage. She alleged that the party was promoting narrow and self-serving politics by inciting tension and violence.
“It is well known that, like other parties, SP too is creating an environment of tension and violence by pushing forward Dalits and using provocative statements, allegations, and programs,” she wrote in Hindi, accusing the party of pursuing selfish political motives.
Mayawati further cautioned the Dalit, OBC, and Muslim communities to remain vigilant against what she termed as SP’s manipulative tactics. Therefore, Dalits, along with OBCs and Muslims, should not fall for their aggressive instigations and political games,” she warned.
The former four-time Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh also advised Dalits associated with rival parties to highlight the achievements and struggles of social reformers and saints from their communities, rather than allowing their legacy to be politicized by others. She said that instead of attacking the history of others, opportunistic Dalits in such parties should celebrate their own leaders’ contributions.
Mayawati’s sharp remarks came in response to SP’s efforts to consolidate support among backward communities and minorities, especially during the birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
In a detailed post, Yadav described the Constitution as the life-force of the country and asserted that only the collective power of PDA could safeguard social justice. He called for transforming the struggle for self-respect into a broader movement to resist oppressive forces and secure rights for the marginalized.
The political face-off underscores intensifying efforts to woo marginalized voters in the run-up to the upcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh.
