Modi praised former CM Karpoori Thakur for Bihar’s development, accusing opposition of attempting to hijack his Jannayak legacy.

PATNA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday exuded unwavering confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would return to power in Bihar with a record-breaking majority under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Launching the election campaign from Bihar’s Samastipur district, Modi projected a strong narrative of progress and development, assuring voters that the NDA would not only secure a full majority but also surpass all previous electoral records in the upcoming assembly elections. “NDA will break all previous records this time,” he asserted, evoking a sense of momentum and inevitability around the alliance’s prospects.

Reflecting on the NDA’s historical performance, Modi highlighted the 2010 assembly election as the alliance’s best showing in Bihar. In that election, the NDA secured 206 out of 243 seats, with Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) winning 115 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) captured 91 seats. Modi emphasized that this track record demonstrates the NDA’s strong organizational presence and the people’s trust in its governance model.

During his address, Modi took a firm stance against the opposition, alleging that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-Congress combine had deliberately created obstacles for Nitish Kumar’s government in Bihar. He credited Kumar with navigating the state out of political and administrative stagnation, ensuring steady progress in key sectors. said, alluding to the earlier period of governance that he described as marked by inefficiency and neglect.

Modi’s speech struck a dual chord: one of confidence in the NDA’s achievements and another of caution against returning to past governance practices he described as regressive. He portrayed the upcoming elections as a choice between development and stagnation, appealing to voters to recognize the tangible progress made under Nitish Kumar’s leadership.

The Prime Minister also drew attention to NDA’s inclusive development agenda, noting improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social welfare schemes that have positively impacted Bihar’s citizens. By highlighting these achievements, Modi sought to reinforce the narrative that the NDA not only delivers governance but also ensures equitable growth across urban and rural areas.

In addition to emphasizing performance and achievements, Modi’s campaign rhetoric targeted opposition leadership, particularly RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and the Congress party, whom he accused of attempting to undermine Bihar’s progress for political gain. Modi suggested that only a strong NDA mandate could safeguard the state from policies he characterized as regressive and misaligned with Bihar’s developmental trajectory.

The Prime Minister also underlined the synergy between the BJP and JD(U) as a core strength of the NDA, asserting that the alliance’s cohesive strategy, combined with Nitish Kumar’s administrative experience, positions it as the most reliable choice for the electorate.

As Modi concluded his rally, he called upon the citizens of Bihar to continue supporting the NDA, reinforcing that their votes would not only determine the state’s leadership but also set the tone for sustained progress, stability, and prosperity in the years ahead. His speech conveyed a clear message: the NDA’s record-breaking win is both desirable and inevitable if Bihar wishes to maintain its developmental momentum and avoid regression to the inefficiencies of the past.
