Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, Rosé, and Bruno Mars shined as top winners at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards ceremony.

Her acceptance came just two days after she had to cancel a Miami show due to an “extremely strained” voice. In her speech, Gaga explained that she couldn’t stay for the rest of the VMAs because she needed to head to Madison Square Garden, where she was scheduled to perform later that evening. True to form, about 90 minutes later, viewers were treated to live broadcasts of Gaga performing “Abracadabra” and “The Dead Dance” straight from MSG, proving her dedication to fans and her craft.

Sabrina Carpenter also made her mark, winning three awards, including Album of the Year for her project Short n’ Sweet. Her wins underscored her rising influence in the pop music landscape and confirmed her as a powerhouse among younger artists.

Other notable winners included Rosé, who took home Song of the Year for her collaboration with Bruno Mars on “APT.,” and KATSEYE, recognized for MTV Push Performance of the Year

The ceremony also honored legendary artists. Mariah Carey received the prestigious Video Vanguard Award, Busta Rhymes was presented with the inaugural Rock the Bells Visionary Award, and Ricky Martin accepted the first-ever Latin Icon Award. All three icons performed during the show, adding a touch of history and celebration to the evening.

This year’s VMAs also introduced two new categories—Best Pop Artist and Best Country Video—reflecting the evolving landscape of music and the growing diversity of the industry.

The 2025 VMAs were produced by former MTV executive Van Toffler and his company Gunpowder & Sky, in partnership with Den of Thieves. most anticipated events in music each year.
