Owaisi Challenges Rahul Gandhi
In a bold move, All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has thrown down the gauntlet to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. Owaisi has challenged Rahul Gandhi to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Hyderabad instead of Wayanad, Kerala.
Owaisi issued this challenge while addressing a crowd in his parliamentary constituency, Hyderabad. Owaisi began by pointing out that the historic Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, was tragically demolished during the reign of the Congress party.
In a fiery speech, Owaisi declared, “I am challenging your leader, Rahul Gandhi, to contest elections from Hyderabad, not Wayanad. While you make grand statements, come down to the battleground and face me. Congress members may talk a lot, but I am prepared to take up this challenge. Remember, it was during the Congress regime that the Babri Masjid and the Secretariat’s mosque were demolished.”
This challenge comes amidst rising political tensions between the Congress and AIMIM in the state of Telangana. Both parties are vigorously competing to secure victory in the upcoming state’s Assembly elections, scheduled to be held later this year.
Earlier this month, Rahul Gandhi, speaking at Vijayabheri Sabha in Telangana’s Tukkuguda, asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and AIMIM were aligning forces in Telangana. Owaisi stated that his party was actively contesting against this coalition.
In Telangana, the Congress party is not solely pitted against the BRS; instead, it is facing a united front comprising the BRS, BJP, and AIMIM. Though they present themselves as different parties, they are essentially working together in unity,” Rahul Gandhi emphasized.
Rahul Gandhi further claimed that there were no pending CBI or ED cases against Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao or AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi. He attributed this to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s perceived affiliation with them as “his own people.”
As the Telangana Assembly polls draw nearer, all political parties are intensifying their efforts to secure victory. The ruling BRS has already announced its list of candidates, while the Congress has put forward its “six guarantees,” which they pledge to fulfill if elected to power.
The upcoming political battles in Telangana promise to be fierce, and the challenge thrown by Asaduddin Owaisi to Rahul Gandhi adds an intriguing twist to the political landscape. The eyes of the nation will be closely watching as these two prominent leaders navigate the complex electoral terrain.
