Among the key initiatives are schemes aimed at rural development, including the launch of 130 drinking water projects to improve access to clean water. Additionally, 100 new anganwadi centres will be inaugurated to support child and maternal care, and 356 libraries will be established to promote education and literacy across various rural regions.

VARANASI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, on Friday, April 11, marking a significant milestone—his 50th visit to the temple town since taking over as the country’s Prime Minister. During this visit, he will unveil a slew of developmental initiatives aimed at strengthening rural infrastructure and boosting public amenities in the region.

According to Kashi region BJP president Dilip Patel, PM Modi will be participating in a public event at Mehdiganj, located along the city’s Ring Road. The venue, strategically selected to be on the outskirts of Varanasi, ensures better accessibility for people traveling from nearby rural areas. The Prime Minister’s event has been scheduled in the morning hours to make it convenient for villagers and other attendees to return home by the afternoon, avoiding the midday heat.

The visit holds special importance, not just for its numerical milestone, but also for the scale and scope of the projects to be launched. PM Modi will inaugurate 19 completed projects amounting to ₹1,629.13 crore and lay the foundation stones for 25 new projects with a projected investment of ₹2,255.05 crore. Together, these 44 projects represent a cumulative value of ₹3,884 crore, reflecting the government’s emphasis on holistic development.

Among the highlighted schemes are several initiatives focused on uplifting rural communities and enhancing public services. One of the major thrust areas is drinking water access, with the launch of 130 dedicated drinking water projects. These projects aim to address water scarcity in rural pockets by improving water supply infrastructure, ensuring that clean and safe drinking water reaches every household.

In addition, the Prime Minister will also unveil 100 newly sanctioned Anganwadi centres. These centres play a critical role in early childhood care and maternal health, providing nutrition, education, and healthcare services to children under the age of six and their mothers. The expansion of Anganwadi facilities is expected to directly benefit thousands of rural families and contribute to improved health outcomes.

These institutions are designed to promote skill development and higher education among rural youth, equipping them with the tools they need to build successful careers and contribute to the region’s economy.

Libraries are also part of the PM’s rural development package, with a total of 356 libraries to be developed. These spaces are envisioned as hubs for knowledge, reading, and digital literacy, particularly in remote areas where educational resources are limited.

These facilities are intended to improve the living and working conditions of the police force, thereby enhancing their efficiency and morale.

In addition, four rural roads will also be inaugurated, enhancing connectivity between villages and urban centers. Improved road infrastructure is expected to ease transportation for goods and people, reduce travel time, and promote rural commerce and mobility.

This latest visit by Prime Minister Modi continues his pattern of frequent engagement with Varanasi, a city that holds cultural, spiritual, and political significance. Since being elected as a Member of Parliament from the constituency in 2014, Modi has made regular visits, each time announcing or inaugurating new projects across sectors like healthcare, education, tourism, sanitation, and infrastructure.

BJP leaders and local officials said this 50th visit highlights the PM’s continued commitment to transforming Varanasi into a model constituency through sustained development. The Prime Minister has always prioritized the development of Kashi and its people. His visit not only brings new projects but also strengthens the morale of the people,” said Kashi region BJP chief Dilip Patel.

Elaborate arrangements have been made for the visit, with local administration working closely with security agencies to ensure smooth conduct of the event. Thousands of people from villages in the surrounding areas are expected to attend the event, which is likely to have cultural performances and speeches by local leaders, in addition to the Prime Minister’s address.

As the Lok Sabha elections draw nearer, such high-profile visits are being seen as politically significant. Varanasi, which has witnessed rapid transformation over the last decade under Modi’s watch, continues to be central to the BJP’s political strategy.

While the official agenda focuses on development, political observers believe that the visit will also help energize party workers and set the tone for the upcoming campaign season.

With projects targeting basic needs such as water, education, roads, and public safety, Friday’s visit is expected to reaffirm the government’s message of inclusive growth and rural empowerment, echoing.
