Rahul Gandhi Raises Concerns About China’s Territory Claims in Ladakh
Congress Member of Parliament (MP) Rahul Gandhi recently expressed worries regarding China’s territorial assertions in the Ladakh region. He reiterated his stance that China has “invaded” parts of Indian territory in Ladakh. He pointed out that China’s inclusion of Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as part of its territory in its latest map is a serious issue.
Speaking to the media at Delhi Airport, Gandhi highlighted that he had just returned from Ladakh and contradicted the Prime Minister’s statement that no land had been taken by China. He stated that this claim is false and that the people of Ladakh are aware that China has encroached upon Indian land.
In response to China releasing a new map that incorporates Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin, Gandhi stressed the significance of the map issue. However, he emphasized that the more important concern is the actual capture of Indian land by China. He urged the Prime Minister to address this issue as well.
Gandhi was traveling to Mysuru in Karnataka with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to participate in the launch of the State Government’s Gruha Lakshmi scheme. This scheme, a part of Congress’s election promises, offers ₹2,000 monthly assistance to the woman heading below-poverty-line families.
China’s 2023 “standard map” depicts Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as part of its territory. Earlier, during his Ladakh visit, Rahul Gandhi contradicted the Centre’s assertion that China hadn’t seized any Indian land. He mentioned that locals in Ladakh affirmed that Chinese troops had taken away their grazing land.
In simple terms, Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP, is worried about China claiming parts of Indian territory in Ladakh. He disagreed with the Prime Minister’s statement and said that Ladakh residents know that China has taken Indian land. Gandhi also discussed a new map by China that shows these regions as theirs. He was heading to Karnataka with the Congress President for a scheme launch. China’s map shows these areas as theirs, but locals say Chinese troops took their land.
