Bharat Jodo Yatra: According to Kuldeep Singh Rishi, Srinagar’s airport director, heavy snowfall and poor visibility have caused all flights to Srinagar to be delayed.

Today, despite the bad weather, the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra‘s concluding ceremony began with a flag-hoisting ceremony at the party’s office in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Then came a rally at a stadium. Farooq Abdullah of the National Conference and Mehbooba Mufti of the People’s Democratic Party both gave speeches at the ceremony amid the heavy snowfall. Thereafter, speeches by the Congress’ top officials, including Rahul Gandhi, the march’s organiser, were delivered.

“I undertook this (yatra) for the country’s citizens, not for myself or the Congress. Our goal is to oppose the ideology that seeks to undermine this nation’s fundamental values “At the conclusion rally, Rahul Gandhi declared.

Gandhi urged the BJP’s senior brass to go on a similar yatra in Jammu and Kashmir, adding they would never do so out of fear.

“No BJP leader in Jammu and Kashmir will be able to walk like this, I can assure you of that. Not because they won’t be permitted to, but rather because they are afraid, they won’t do it “he stated.

The Congress organised the massive demonstration at the Sher-I-Kashmir Cricket Stadium to commemorate the completion of the 135-day Kanyakumari to Kashmir yatra as part of the closing ceremony of the Congress’s pan-India foot march.

Over a dozen politicians from opposing parties will also attend the event in addition to the entire Congress leadership. The national route between Srinagar and Jammu has been forced to close, and the snowfall may also affect air travel. There may not be as many opposition politicians there for the yatra’s conclusion as had been anticipated, including Congressman Rahul Gandhi.

Kuldeep Singh Rishi, the airport director in Srinagar, posted on Twitter that all planes to the city have been delayed due to poor visibility and ongoing snowfall.

Both of Vistara Airlines’ scheduled flights from Delhi to Srinagar were cancelled for the day.

There were 21 parties invited to the event, but according to sources, several are not going because of security issues. Among the parties that would not attend the event are Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, and TDP.

Rahul Gandhi raised the national flag to mark the end of the “padyatra” on Sunday at Lal Chowk, although Srinagar, which is currently experiencing snowfall, will host the official ending ceremony on Monday.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, which is led by MK Stalin, the Nationalist Congress Party, which is led by Sharad Pawar, the Rashtriya Janata Dal, which is led by Tejashwi Yadav, the Janata Dal (United), which is led by Nitish Kumar, the Shiv Sena, which is led by Uddhav Thackeray, the CPI(M), the Viduthalai Chirutha (JMM).

The 3,970 kilometre journey across 12 states and two union territories known as the Kanyakumari to Kashmir Yatra began on September 7 at the southernmost point of the nation and ends on January 30 in Srinagar.

Over the course of the yatra, Rahul Gandhi gave 13 press conferences and over 100 corner meetings. He aimed to engage in over 275 walking interactions and over 100 seated contacts.

The national flag will be raised at the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who will also dedicate a memorial to the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The protest would thereafter take place.

At a news conference on Sunday, Rahul Gandhi claimed that although the Bharat Jodo Yatra travelled from South to North, it had an impact across the entire nation and that it had provided the nation with a different perspective.
