New Delhi: Rashmika Mandanna’s latest Telugu release, The Girlfriend, continues to make steady progress at the box office, winning hearts with its emotional depth and strong storytelling.

The Numbers So Far

As per early box office estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, The Girlfriend earned approximately ₹1.3 crore on its opening day and showed an impressive 92.31% growth on Day 2, collecting around ₹2.5 crore. The film recorded an overall occupancy of 30.79%, with audiences steadily growing through the day. Morning and afternoon shows had occupancies of 17.32% and 33.44%, while evening and night shows witnessed better turnout at 33.84% and 38.55%, respectively — signaling strong word of mouth.

Despite a modest start, the film’s second-day jump reflects that audiences are connecting with its emotional core and Rashmika’s powerful performance. The weekend ahead will likely determine its long-term momentum at the box office.

Rashmika’s Heartfelt Words

Beyond the numbers, what’s truly resonating is Rashmika Mandanna’s own emotional connection to the film. Taking to social media, she shared a moving note about her experience working on The Girlfriend and how the story touched her deeply.

“The Girlfriend – Ahhh! Where do I even begin…” she wrote, recalling how director Rahul Ravindran’s narration left her teary-eyed. What moved me even more was that these words and emotions came from a man — someone who truly understood things most people wouldn’t.”

Rashmika revealed that she walked away from that first meeting with two things — a script she couldn’t say no to, and a lifelong friend in Rahul Ravindran.

The actress also thanked the production team behind the project — “@vidyakoppineedi ma’am, @dheerajmogilineni sir, thank you for believing in us and backing this story. @geethaarts, you’ve been our anchor through this journey. We might do bigger movies in the future, but none will ever be like this one.”

A Role Close to Her Heart

I’ve understood myself a little more while playing her. Every day, Rahul would explain a scene, and somehow, I’d just know what he meant — no follow-up needed. I just wish the audience feels what we felt while making this film.

With such heartfelt emotion and a strong positive response from viewers, The Girlfriend is shaping up to be more than just a film for Rashmika Mandanna — it’s a personal journey, one that’s clearly striking a chord with audiences across the country.
