Spider-Man: Brand New Day Creates Box Office Storm, Reignites Peter Parker’s Magic in India

The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but audiences have clearly not forgotten their favourite neighbourhood superhero. Five years after the massive success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day has arrived with a powerful impact, creating a new chapter in the superhero franchise and setting remarkable records at the Indian box office.

The film opened with a massive response from fans, collecting an impressive ₹60.60 crore nett on its first day across 17,250 shows in India. The superhero entertainer’s gross earnings crossed the ₹70 crore mark, reaching ₹73.96 crore, proving once again that Spider-Man continues to hold a special place among Indian moviegoers.

One of the biggest highlights of the film’s opening was its performance across different languages. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man connected strongly with audiences beyond the traditional English-speaking market. The Hindi version surprised many by delivering a strong performance, earning around ₹22 crore and giving tough competition to the English version, which collected ₹32.25 crore. The Tamil and Telugu versions also performed well, each crossing the ₹3 crore mark on the opening day.

The record-breaking opening shows how deeply the Spider-Man character has connected with Indian audiences. The film’s first-day earnings were almost double compared to Spider-Man: No Way Home, which had opened with ₹32.67 crore in India in 2021. The latest instalment has not only surpassed its predecessor but has also emerged as one of Tom Holland’s biggest career successes in the country.

Interestingly, Spider-Man: Brand New Day also performed better than Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which featured Holland as Telemachus. That film earned around ₹20.76 crore in gross collections in India, highlighting the unmatched popularity and emotional connection audiences have with the Spider-Man franchise.

The film’s opening day performance even surpassed the first-day earnings of Avengers: Endgame, showing the enormous fan following of Spider-Man in India. The character’s combination of youthful energy, emotional struggles and heroic responsibility continues to attract viewers across generations.

The premium viewing experience also contributed to the film’s success. The English 3D version witnessed a steady increase in audience turnout throughout the day. Morning and afternoon shows recorded an occupancy of around 51.22 per cent, while evening screenings saw a rise to nearly 58.78 per cent. The overall occupancy stood at approximately 53.74 per cent, reflecting strong interest among audiences, especially those choosing premium formats.

The story of Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues from the emotional ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the previous film, Doctor Strange cast a spell that made the world forget Peter Parker’s identity as Spider-Man. This included his closest friends MJ and Ned, played by Zendaya and Jacob Batalon. The new film explores Peter’s life after losing those important connections while he tries to rebuild himself as both a person and a superhero.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the movie brings together a strong cast including Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Florence Pugh, Tramell Tillman, Marisa Tomei and Mark Ruffalo.

Critics have appreciated the film for balancing emotional storytelling with large-scale superhero action. Many praised Tom Holland’s performance for showing Peter Parker’s loneliness, maturity and determination. Sadie Sink’s role has also received positive attention, while the film’s action sequences and climax have been described as major highlights.

Although some reviewers felt the first half moved at a slower pace, the overall response has remained positive. Fans have particularly connected with the film’s focus on Peter Parker’s personal journey and the challenges behind being a hero.

With its record-breaking start, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has once again proved that the bond between Spider-Man and audiences remains stronger than ever. The film is not just a box office success but also a reminder that even after years, fans are ready to stand behind Peter Parker and welcome him back as their hero.
