Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Highlights Progress of Caste Census, Calls It the Third Social Justice Movement
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that 92 percent of the ongoing caste, social, and economic survey in the state has been completed. He described the caste census as a pivotal part of India’s “third social justice movement,” led by the Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
Revanth Reddy emphasized that once the survey is finalized, Telangana will embark on a significant campaign for social justice. He referred to this as “the third great war for social justice,” aimed at ensuring that communities receive their rightful share of resources, opportunities, and representation based on their population.
The Chief Minister highlighted the long-standing demands of Backward Classes (BC) communities in Telangana for a greater share in reservations and political representation. BCs, who are estimated to constitute over 50% of the state’s population, have been pushing for proportional representation in governance and public welfare schemes.
The results of this survey will be used to address historical inequalities and allocate resources fairly,” Revanth Reddy stated.
Taking a political jab at the central government, he pointed out the public’s limited mandate for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Revanth Reddy framed the ongoing efforts as a battle between “the protectors of the Constitution” and “the enemies of the Constitution,” calling for citizens to rally behind the Congress-led movement to uphold constitutional values and ensure social justice for marginalized communities.
