Telangana Governor Envisions Reaching the Sun during Raksha Bandhan Celebration
Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan expressed a bold aspiration during a Raksha Bandhan celebration event. She proclaimed that not only have we achieved the remarkable feat of reaching the Moon through the Chandrayaan mission, but we are also setting our sights on reaching the Sun. The Governor’s remarks were made during a program organized by the Samskruti Foundation (SF) at Raj Bhavan to commemorate Raksha Bandhan.
Addressing the audience, Governor Soundararajan highlighted the pride Indians feel as they celebrate Raksha Bandhan in their own country and even on the Moon someday. She commended the nation’s space scientists for their remarkable achievements, particularly with the Chandrayaan missions. She expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for fostering an environment conducive to such scientific advancements.
Governor Soundararajan emphasized the significance of unity in the diverse nation of India. She explained that despite the multitude of languages, cultures, and customs across various states, the bond that holds the country together is akin to the spirit of Raksha Bandhan. Just as the festival celebrates the bond between siblings, the unity among Indians acts as a binding force that strengthens the country.
The Samskruti Foundation, an NGO based in Hyderabad, was praised by the Governor for organizing the ‘Rakhi for soldiers’ program. This event acknowledges the soldiers’ role in safeguarding the nation and also serves as a platform to preserve and promote Indian culture and values.
During the event, the Governor personally tied Rakhi, a traditional decorative thread symbolizing protection and love, to soldiers and other participants as a gesture of appreciation and gratitude.
In essence, Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan’s words resonated with a sense of pride in India’s accomplishments, particularly in the realm of space exploration. Her analogy of Raksha Bandhan as a symbol of unity amid diversity reflects the essence of the festival and how it mirrors the strong bond that holds the nation together. The event also underscored the critical role of soldiers and the efforts to preserve the rich cultural heritage of India.
