Telangana offers financial aid to candidates qualifying Civils Prelims.
The Chief Minister asserted that his government successfully filled 30,000 vacancies within just 90 days of the Congress taking power in the state. Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday distributed financial assistance of ₹1 lakh each to 135 candidates who have qualified for the Civil Services Prelims and are now preparing for the Mains examination. The financial aid was provided under the Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhayahsatam program, during a ceremony held at the Secretariat.
Financial Support to Aspirants
The Chief Minister highlighted the significance of this financial assistance in supporting the candidates as they prepare for one of the most challenging examinations in the country. By providing this financial aid, the government aims to ease the burden of Civil Services aspirants, allowing them to focus entirely on their studies without being distracted by financial or family pressures. “The Civil Services aspirants should approach the exams with the focus and determination of Arjuna, who hit the eye of a fish with his arrow, undistracted by the challenges around him,” said Revanth Reddy, urging the candidates to remain resolute in their preparation.
Commitment to Employment and Education
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister reiterated that unemployment was a central issue during the Telangana movement and that the state’s formation was driven by the sacrifices and struggles of the unemployed youth and students. “The Telangana state has been achieved only through the relentless efforts of the unemployed and students, and it is our responsibility to honor their sacrifices by creating ample job opportunities,” he added.
Revanth Reddy claimed that his government had filled 30,000 vacancies within the first 90 days of Congress coming to power in the state, a significant achievement that reflects the government’s commitment to tackling unemployment. Furthermore, he announced that the government has already issued notifications to fill another 35,000 jobs through Group-1, Group-2, Group-3, and DSC recruitment drives, demonstrating the administration’s ongoing efforts to provide employment to the state’s youth.

The Chief Minister did not hold back in his criticism of the previous government’s handling of the education sector, particularly in terms of infrastructure for students from backward communities. He alleged that the previous administration had neglected the needs of students, with many hostels operating out of rented buildings, where hundreds of students were forced to share inadequate bathroom facilities.
In stark contrast, Revanth Reddy outlined his government’s ambitious plans to construct integrated residential schools across 100 Assembly constituencies. These schools will include hostels for BC, SC, ST, and minority students, all within a single compound spanning 20 to 25 acres. “We have allocated ₹5,000 crore in the budget for this initiative, which will not only provide better living conditions for students but also enhance the overall quality of education,” he said.
Addressing the Skills Gap
Another significant concern raised by the Chief Minister was the disconnect between the education system and industry requirements. He lamented that the current education system is too focused on issuing certificates, leaving graduates, particularly engineering students, without the skills needed by companies. “Thousands of students have completed their engineering education, but they lack the necessary skills, which is why companies are struggling to find suitable employees,” Revanth Reddy remarked.
To address this issue, the Telangana government has established the Young India Skill University, aimed at bridging the gap between academic qualifications and industry needs. The university, which will focus on producing skilled manpower, has industrialist Anand Mahindra as its Chairman and Srinivasa Raju as the Vice-Chairman. The Chief Minister emphasized that the university’s leadership will play a crucial role in finalizing the syllabus, overseeing training, and managing operations to ensure that graduates are job-ready.
“The state government will act as a facilitator, providing the necessary support to the university, which will offer a range of certificate and diploma courses,” Revanth Reddy explained. In its inaugural year, the Skill University is expected to train 2,000 students, with plans to scale up and train 20,000 students annually from the following year.
