Telangana’s Chief Minister to Inaugurate Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme for Enhanced Water Supply
Telangana’s Chief Minister, K. Chandrashekar Rao, is all set to inaugurate the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) on September 16, following a comprehensive review of preparations by Minister V. Srinivas Goud and government officials.
Official sources revealed that the Chief Minister took a visionary step in redesigning the PRLIS, recognizing its critical role in ensuring water storage for the agricultural prosperity of Telangana. This redesign has resulted in a remarkable enhancement of water availability in the state.
Thanks to this redesign, Telangana can now lift an impressive 2.4 Thousand Million Cubic Feet (TMC) of water daily from the Krishna River. This marks a significant leap from the initial proposal of 0.5 TMC per day before the state’s formation. The PRLIS has substantially increased Telangana’s water storage capacity in the Krishna basin, soaring from 8 TMC to a substantial 75.94 TMC.
The PRLIS, boasting 67.97 TMC, in conjunction with the 147 TMC from the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, is expected to fulfill the diverse water needs of the state.
As part of the grand inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Rao will kick off the PRLIS by initiating the lifting of Krishna water from Narlapur via the impressive Bahubali pump. These extraordinary lifts will serve the drinking water and irrigation needs of the people residing in southern Telangana. Notably, this project is equipped with the largest pumps in the world, showcasing Telangana’s commitment to harnessing technology for water management.
Following the wet run inauguration, Chief Minister Rao will also address a public meeting in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Ministers V. Srinivas Goud and S. Niranjan Reddy, in collaboration with Government Whip Guvwala Balaraju, have diligently coordinated and arranged all the necessary logistics for this momentous event.
Overall Telangana’s Chief Minister is poised to inaugurate the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, a project that symbolizes the state’s dedication to ensuring water prosperity for its agricultural and civic needs. With visionary redesigns and cutting-edge technology, Telangana is set to make a significant leap in its water management capabilities, benefiting the lives of its residents and fostering agricultural growth.
