Tragedy Strikes as Howrah-Bound Falaknuma Super-Fast Express Engulfed in Flames Near Bhongir: Prompt Action Ensures Passenger Safety
A major fire broke out on Friday on the Howrah-bound Falaknuma super-fast express near Bhongir, resulting in the gutting of at least five bogies. The incident occurred when a fire erupted in one of the compartments, quickly spreading to adjacent bogies. Alert passengers immediately informed the train pilot, prompting the train to come to a halt. Passengers then safely disembarked from the train.
In response to the emergency, eight fire tenders from Yadadri district and Hyderabad were swiftly dispatched to the scene. Additionally, rescue teams comprising Rachakonda Police, special parties, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Railway police, and Yadadri Disaster Response Force were mobilized to assist in the operation.
M Rajesh Chandra, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bhongir, reported that the affected bogies were reservation compartments. Fortunately, all passengers on board managed to deboard the train without any injuries. However, some individuals, unfortunately, lost their belongings in the mishap.
Railway police and RPF have initiated a joint investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the fire. At present, the exact reason behind the fire outbreak remains unidentified.
