UP-STATE TRANSPORTATION’S OFFICIAL WEBSITE (UPSRTC) HACKED – 10 DAYS TO REDEEM
HACKERS HIT THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF UPSRTC, CYBER SECURITY OFFICIALS ASKED FOR 10 DAYS.
The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation’s (UPSRTC) online ticket booking website got into the hands of cyber thugs. The sudden attack of hackers on the website made all the state transportation’s online bookings break off.
At 2 am on Wednesday, the hackers abruptly hit the state’s official website and it was reported that the group of cyberpunks might be foreigners. According to the gathered information, the state government stated that all the buses under the state’s corporation are running on the usual timing but with manual ticketing. It was also noted that all the bus depots are under surveillance to avoid any issues.
As soon as the issue came to notice, the company that handles the website arranged for officials to start working on the recovery of the website but it was stated that it might take 10 days – meaning for all operations related to be stopped. The company that deals with website handling is M/s Orion Pro; they developed a professional team to handle the situation.
The website’s servers were crashed by hackers and the officials asked for 10 days to redeem the website and a week time to set up new servers, which means till then the online ticket booking of UP state transportation will be at a halt.
A cyber case was filed at the police station in Navi Mumbai by the M/s Orion Pro. Sanjay Kumar, the Managing Director of UPSRTC said in their comment about the issue that the hacker might be foreigners and said that it shall be revealed soon as they approached the Cyber thana and registered an FIR.
The managing director also stated that they are working their best to restore ways to start online bookings in all 20 areas and 115 depots within 7-10 days and requested people to hang on till then.
Just two weeks ago, research done by the Cyber Security team alerted the Indian government about a mass cyber attack on its official websites. In that research, it was revealed that a group of foreign hackers threatened or more like warned about a cyber-attack.
But the previously mentioned hackers were confirmed to be from an Indonesian hacktivist organization. They also were said to have released a list of 12,000 central cum state websites that belong to India and added that those websites are their targets.
During this incident, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) advised the Indian government to improve the cyber security of its websites. And today we see an official state website taken down by foreign hackers.
