Woman poisons husband, kills him 36 days after marriage
A shocking incident has emerged from Madhya Pradesh where a woman allegedly killed her husband by poisoning his food just 36 days after their wedding. The incident occurred in Chhatarpur district and has sent shockwaves through the local community. According to police officials, the accused, identified as Roshni, was reportedly unhappy with the marriage from the very beginning. Just a day after the wedding, she allegedly expressed her displeasure and unwillingness to continue the relationship.
Despite family efforts to resolve the situation, Roshni continued to show disinterest and was said to be constantly involved in arguments with her husband. On the night of the incident, she allegedly mixed poison into his food. Soon after consuming the meal, her husband began complaining of severe stomach pain and was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, he died during treatment.
A postmortem confirmed the presence of toxic substances in his body, leading authorities to suspect foul play. During questioning, Roshni reportedly confessed to the crime, admitting that she did not want to live with her husband and decided to end the relationship by killing him. She is now in police custody, and a case of murder has been registered.
Garhwa Honeymoon Horror: Woman Allegedly Poisons Husband 36 Days After Wedding
Garhwa, Jharkhand – In a chilling echo of the recent honeymoon murder case involving Sonam Raghuvanshi and her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, another spine-chilling case of alleged spousal murder has surfaced, this time from Jharkhand’s Garhwa district. A 22-year-old woman, Sunita, has been arrested for allegedly poisoning and killing her husband, Budhnath Singh, merely 36 days after their wedding.
The case has sent shockwaves through the region, adding to growing concerns over rising domestic tensions and violent spousal disputes that have lately been surfacing in various parts of the country.
Arrest and Identification
The accused, Sunita, was arrested by police on Monday evening following a detailed complaint and preliminary investigation. She is currently in judicial custody and is expected to be produced before a local magistrate soon. According to the police, initial evidence, along with witness testimonies, strongly indicates premeditated murder. The motive, as per preliminary findings, appears to stem from dissatisfaction with the marriage.
How the Crime Came to Light
The incident came to light after the victim’s mother, Rajmati Devi, filed a formal complaint accusing her daughter-in-law of intentionally murdering her son. In the FIR lodged at Ranka police station, she alleged that Sunita had never been interested in living with her husband and had expressed her reluctance right from the beginning of their marriage.
Budhnath Singh, the deceased, was a resident of Bahokundar village under Ranka police station limits in Jharkhand. He had recently married Sunita, the daughter of Raghunath Singh, a native of Vishunpur village in Ramchandrapur police station area of neighbouring Chhattisgarh, on May 11 this year.
Displeasure From Day One
Shockingly, trouble in the marriage began just a day after the wedding ceremony. According to relatives, Sunita abruptly returned to her parental home in Chhattisgarh on May 12. During discussions with her family and mediators, she allegedly declared that she was unhappy with the match and did not like her husband, Budhnath. She told them she had no intention of continuing the marital relationship and would not live with him.
Despite this early sign of discord, both families tried to mend the fractured bond. Several rounds of discussions took place between elders of both sides. Ultimately, a village panchayat (community council) was held on June 5, aimed at resolving the matter. Following the panchayat’s intervention and family pressure, Sunita agreed to return to her marital home with Budhnath.
Market Visit and Pesticide Purchase
On June 14, just over a week after Sunita had moved back in with her husband, the couple visited Ramanujganj market in Chhattisgarh, reportedly to buy household goods. However, what seemed like an ordinary visit turned out to be a part of a sinister plot. Police sources claim that Sunita convinced Budhnath to purchase a bottle of pesticide from the market, telling him that it was required for agricultural purposes at their family farm.
Investigators now believe this purchase was a critical step in the planning and execution of the alleged murder.
Alleged Poisoning and Discovery of the Body
According to police, on the night of June 15, Sunita allegedly mixed the pesticide into Budhnath’s dinner. The unsuspecting husband consumed the poisoned food and soon after, began exhibiting symptoms of poisoning, though he reportedly did not seek immediate medical help. Tragically, he was found dead the next morning, June 16, when he failed to wake up.
His family, alarmed by his unresponsiveness, alerted local authorities. The police soon reached the spot and took possession of the body for further examination. A case was formally registered at Ranka police station under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for murder.
Post-Mortem and Ongoing Investigation
The body of the deceased was sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Though the final report is awaited, initial signs point to poisoning as the cause. Forensic tests are expected to confirm the presence of toxic substances in Budhnath’s system.
Confirming the arrest and the course of the investigation, the officer in charge of Ranka police station stated, “We have taken the deceased’s wife into custody based on the mother’s complaint. The post-mortem is being conducted. We will know the exact cause of death after the report is received. Further investigation is underway.”
The police are also probing whether Sunita acted alone or if there were any accomplices involved in the crime. They are reviewing phone records, CCTV footage from the market, and speaking with local shopkeepers to verify if Sunita indeed purchased the pesticide directly or through someone else.
Family and Community Reaction
The families of both the deceased and the accused are reportedly in shock. While Budhnath’s relatives are demanding the harshest punishment for Sunita, her own family members have so far declined to speak publicly, maintaining that they were unaware of any such intentions on her part.
Local villagers have expressed outrage over the incident, with many describing the crime as “unthinkable” and “deeply disturbing.” Community elders, who were part of the panchayat that persuaded Sunita to return, have also condemned the incident and said they were misled by her promises of reconciliation.
Larger Concerns
This incident adds to a growing list of spousal crimes being reported in India, where strained marriages are leading to extreme outcomes. Mental health experts stress the need for proper counseling and legal mediation before forcing couples into reconciliation.
As the investigation proceeds and the final post-mortem report is awaited, Sunita faces serious charges that could lead to life imprisonment if proven guilty. Authorities say they are committed to ensuring that justice is delivered in this tragic case.
