At least six were injured after a speeding Lamborghini hit pedestrians and two wheelers on Kanpur’s VIP Road, police said.

Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh saw a shocking accident on Sunday afternoon. At least six people were injured when a speeding Lamborghini hit pedestrians and two wheelers on VIP Road. The incident happened in the upscale Gwaltoli area and caused panic among locals.

Police said the accident took place around 3.15 pm near Rev 3 Mall. The luxury car reportedly went out of control and rammed into people standing on the roadside. Several vehicles were also hit in the process.

According to police, the car was allegedly driven by Shivam Mishra. He is the son of businessman KK Mishra, a well known tobacco trader in the region. The impact of the crash was strong and sudden, leaving people shocked and injured.

DCP Central Atul Kumar Srivastava said the car ploughed into pedestrians and vehicles before stopping. He said the matter was being taken seriously and action would follow as per the law.

Eyewitnesses gave disturbing details of the accident. They said the Lamborghini first hit an auto rickshaw. After that, it crashed into a parked Royal Enfield motorcycle. The force was so strong that the motorcycle rider was flung nearly 10 feet into the air.

People at the spot said the car climbed onto the front wheel of the motorcycle. By then, several people were lying injured on the road.

One of the injured men was identified as Taufiq. He lives in Yamunaganj area of Kanpur. Police said he was thrown several metres due to the impact. He suffered serious injuries to his leg and was in pain.

Other injured people suffered fractures, bruises, and cuts. Some had injuries on their arms and legs. Locals said the scene was chaotic, with people shouting for help and trying to assist the injured.

Soon after the crash, angry locals gathered around the Lamborghini. They surrounded the car and did not allow the driver to come out. Many were upset and demanded strict action.

Witnesses also alleged that private bouncers were present with the accused. They claimed these bouncers tried to push back the crowd. People said their behaviour was aggressive and made the situation worse.

The tension at the spot increased as more locals arrived. Some people shouted slogans and accused the driver of rash driving. Others feared the matter might be suppressed because of the family’s influence.

Police reached the scene soon after receiving information. They rescued the driver from inside the car. Both the driver and the injured were shifted to a private hospital for treatment.

The Lamborghini, which was badly damaged, was seized by the police. Officers said the vehicle would be examined as part of the investigation.

Later, a chaotic scene unfolded at the police station as well. Victims and local residents gathered there in large numbers. They alleged misbehaviour by the accused’s associates.

Some people claimed the police were going easy on the accused. They said this was because his family is influential in the area. These claims added to the anger among locals.

Protesters also alleged that pressure was being put on the victims to settle the matter. They claimed there was a delay in registering the case. This further fueled suspicion and frustration.

One of the injured, Sonu Tripathi, spoke to mediapersons outside the hospital. He said he and his cousin were standing near their parked motorcycle. Suddenly, the Lamborghini came at high speed and hit them.

He said his cousin was thrown off the bike. Sonu said they have filed a complaint and want strict action against the driver.

Police officials said they are following the process. DCP Srivastava confirmed that the vehicle has been seized. He said further action would depend on the complaint and investigation.

“The injured were given primary treatment,” he said. He added that an FIR will be registered and legal action will follow.

The incident has raised questions about reckless driving and safety on busy city roads. Many locals said VIP Road often sees fast moving vehicles despite heavy foot traffic.

Residents demanded stricter checks and better enforcement. They said such accidents should not be ignored, no matter who is involved.

The firm supplies tobacco to gutkha manufacturers in the region. Locals said his business and influence are well known.

As of now, the injured are under medical care. Police said the investigation is ongoing. The case has drawn wide attention in Kanpur, with many waiting to see what action will be taken next.
