It’s a sad day, respected prime minister. In light of PM Modi’s mother’s passing, the event had taken on a sombre tone. “I pray to god, may god give you the strength and bless you so that you can love your mother by your action and your actions,” Banerjee remarked.
“Sir, I want to thank you for coming to West Bengal today when you were supposed to. But despite being unable to reach us due to the tragic passing of your mother, you have made a sincere effort to do so through your virtual programme. Even so, I’ll ask that the programme be shortened short and that you relax since you’ve just undergone cremation.
Banerjee’s speech was followed by PM Modi’s video-conferenced inauguration of the Joka-Taratala segment of the Kolkata Metro’s Purple Line and the Vande Bharat Express.
The Boinchi-Shaktigarh 3rd Line, Dankuni-Chandanpur 4th Line Project, Nimtita-New Farakka Double Line, and Ambari Falakata-New Maynaguri-Gumanihat Doubling Project were among the four railway projects that the Prime Minister dedicated to the country during the programme. Together, they cost a total of 405 crore, 565 crore, 254 crore, and more than 1080 crore, respectively.
Prime Minister Modi apologised for missing the ceremony in Bengal “for personal reasons” during his remarks.
He apologised to both you and West Bengal, saying, “Today I was meant to come among you but I could not come for some personal reasons.”
