Different day and the same news, is this just another day of the covid rise? India is seeing a drastic rise and day by day the daily reported cases are increasing. What is ahead of this? Another pandemic?
Today the total number of active cases in the country stood at 53,720 with 10,753 newly reported cases in the past 24 hours.
Covid cases reported in 24 hours hit the highest mark on Friday i.e., on 14 April 2023, with 11,000 new cases. A total of 4,42,23,211 people have recovered from coronavirus infection, while 5,31,091 people have died from the virus to date according to the data.
A total of 21 death due to the infection were reported in the past 24 hours which include, six in Kerala, six deaths in Delhi, four in Maharashtra, and three in Rajasthan, and a sum up of 8 deaths with one each in Gujarat, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
The weekly positivity rate has been determined to be 4.49, whereas the daily positivity rate was 6.78. There have been 4.48 billion instances of Covid (4,48,08,022) in total. 0.12 percent of the total infections is what today’s count is.
The government health ministry website reports that the national COVID-19 recovery rate is 98.69.
It is advised that covid protocols are followed strictly by everyone. Dr. Sandeep Nayar, pulmonologist, HOD, BLK hospital spoke about the ongoing rise and said that “One should wear a mask while going to any crowded place.” And advised to use “double-layer masks in places like hospitals, etc.,” double-layer masks are very effective in preventing infection.
Prominent epidemiologists and virologists believe that the new Covid variation, XBB.1.16, maybe the root of an upsurge in instances. The infection continues to spread rapidly despite the low hospitalization rate. According to medical professionals, the symptoms are all minor and can be treated at home with isolation.
Just to ensure you won’t be affected by the virus everybody is advised to follow the necessary protocols and learn about the symptoms and prevention of the XBB.1.16.
Symptoms of the new variant may include a stuffy nose accompanied by some upper respiratory, headache, sore throat, fever, and muscle pains. If you have seen any of these in yourself for more than two to three days, then it is advisable that you get yourself checked.
