Actor Satish Shah Wins Internet Award for Reacting to Racist Remark at Heathrow Airport in the UK
In addition, Heathrow Airport addressed Satish Shah’s statement of regret on the encounter.
The actor Satish Shah’s response to a racist remark he was made to at Heathrow Airport in the UK has gone viral on social media. The “Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai” actor said on Twitter that he overheard Heathrow Airport personnel asking how they (probably Mr. Shah and his family) can afford a first-class aircraft ticket as he was at the airport, getting ready to board his trip. Mr. Shah claimed that he did it in a collected manner.
“I overheard the Heathrow attendant wonderingly asking his comrade “how can they afford 1st class?” and I answered with a proud smile “because we are Indians.” Mr. Shah disclosed.
More than 11,000 people liked and commented on Mr. Shah’s tweet. In a tweet apology for the interaction, Heathrow Airport also expressed regret. “Greetings, we regret learning of this experience. Could you DM us?” In the comments, the airport wrote.
Additionally, a number of internet users thanked Mr. Shah for rejecting the racial insult. Some even pushed the British government to take the required action.
“Ms. Sarabhai’s presence was essential. She would have retorted harshly. Even yet, Mr. Sarabhai was being his usual self. Those series are missing, “One person wrote. Another person remarked, “Next time, please add one more line stating everything they can afford today is also a result of Indian money that their forefathers looted.”
Another individual added, “@HeathrowAirport Please train your workers on proper behaviour and help them get past this ridiculous and antiquated practise of discriminating based on race. These days, the world is highly progressive. We can afford, as our esteemed senior actor from the film industry tweeted below. We don’t treat your citizens like this, do we?” And a fourth, “Irony, I suppose. The robbers enquire as to how the original rich may afford their wealth.”
The most well-known part for Satish Shah, who has been in a number of Bollywood films, is in the hit TV soap opera comedy “Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai.” Additionally, he had a judge appearance on the TV programme Comedy Circus.
In addition to others, Mr. Shah has appeared in films including “Hum Aapke Hain Koun…!” “Hum Saath Saath Hain,” “Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai,” “Main Hoon Na,” and “Khichdi: The Movie.” He last appeared in the 2014 film “Humshakals.”
