Delhi Police Arrest 10 in Multi-State Crackdown on ₹50-Crore Fraud Syndicate
In a major victory against cybercrime, the Delhi Police have busted a massive online fraud network, arresting 10 people — including the alleged mastermind — in coordinated raids across seven states. The syndicate is accused of cheating victims across India of more than ₹50 crore through online scams and extortion.
Police officials said the accused were nabbed after months of meticulous investigation and surveillance. The raids, carried out in Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala, Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana, targeted key members of an organised digital fraud ring that had been operating from multiple locations.
Investigators revealed that the gang ran a sophisticated network, using fake online profiles, digital payment platforms, and fear tactics to deceive and extort money from unsuspecting victims. “This was a highly coordinated operation,” a senior officer said. “The suspects used technology smartly — but our team worked even smarter.”
So far, the police have linked the arrested individuals to at least 61 complaints filed on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP). The victims, spread across the country, had allegedly lost over ₹50 crore to a group that exploited anonymity in the digital space to their advantage.
According to officers, the operation’s success hinged on strong cooperation between state police forces and relentless digital tracking. Raids in Kerala, Delhi, and Mumbai led to the capture of the key suspects, marking a crucial step toward dismantling what officials describe as an “international fraud and extortion ecosystem.”
Authorities said this crackdown sends a clear message — that law enforcement is ramping up its response to cyber threats. They also urged citizens to remain alert, verify unknown messages or calls, and report any suspicious activities immediately.
“This is not just about one gang,” a cybercrime official noted. “It’s a reminder that digital crimes are borderless, and staying informed is our best defense.”
The Delhi Police reaffirmed their commitment to protecting citizens from online scams, emphasizing the need for stronger public awareness and digital safety practices. With investigations still underway, more arrests could follow in the coming days.
