Hindu Seer’s Call to Declare Moon a “Hindu Rashtra” Sparks Discussion
In a surprising turn of events, a Hindu seer has proposed that the Moon be declared a “Hindu Rashtra,” essentially suggesting that the Moon be recognized as a Hindu nation. This unusual suggestion comes after the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3, India’s lunar spacecraft, at a location referred to as “Shiv Shakti Point.” The seer, Swami Chakrapani Maharaj, who is also the National President of the All India Hindu Mahasabha, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for naming the landing site in connection with Hindu deities.
The term “Hindu Rashtra” typically refers to a nation where the majority religion is Hinduism and the principles of Hindu culture hold significance. The seer’s proposition involves passing a resolution in the Indian Parliament to officially declare the Moon as a Hindu nation. He believes that by doing so, India can establish its cultural and religious presence on the Moon before other religions and countries lay claim to it. In 2020, his organization, All India Hindu Mahasabha, organized a “gaumutra party” during the Covid-19 pandemic, which attracted attention and criticism. In 2018, he made controversial remarks about offering aid to flood victims in Kerala based on their consumption of beef.
