Locals have reported sightings of the quadrupeds in agricultural areas, forest fringes in the zone and near the Chanaka-Korata irrigation project pump house currently under construction across the Penganga River.
Forest officials have spotted tiger pugmarks and asked people to be alert. According to them, a tigress and her three cubs left Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary (TWS) in neighboring Maharashtra’s Yavatmal district and roamed Adilabad in search of territory and food.
To ensure their safety and save human loss, preparations are being made for their passage. To trace their whereabouts, four animal trackers, ten base camp monitors, a fast rescue squad, three task force personnel and department employees have been dispatched. The operation also involved volunteers from non-governmental organizations including the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
However, residents and farmers of Bhimpur Mandal’s Tansi (K), Gollaghat, Pippalkot, Nippani, Gunjala, Arli (T), Dhanora, Gubidi, Karanji and other villages are worried after seeing the mother and children.
Meanwhile, drivers and passengers said that a tiger was spotted while the TSRTC bus was traveling between Bombayguda-Penchikalpet mandal center on Tuesday night. In Rebbena village of Bejjuru mandal, farmers said that tiger marks were seen in the paddy field on Tuesday. Footprints were found by the forest officials who visited the spot. the forests of this region are home to three tigers. According to reports.
