Avatar 2 Movie Review: Akshay Kumar praises ‘The Way of Water,’ while Varun Dhawan is blown away
A few years ago. The actors also praised James Cameron for changing the course of world cinema.
James Cameron’s Avatar 2 aka Avatar: The Way Of Water is set to be released in India on December 16. Cameron has once again invited viewers to enter the world of Pandora, where the Sully family resides.
The trailer has already demonstrated that a man’s imagination knows no bounds, as the film is visually stunning. Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster Avatar dealt with forest conservation, while the sequel now focuses on human greed, which is killing the planet and marine life.
Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana reprise their roles as Jake Sully and Na’vi Neytiri, respectively, in Avatar: The Way of Water, with the story focusing on the two main protagonists, their families, and the lengths they go to keep each other safe.
Avatar 2 was already released in London, and a special screening for Bollywood celebrities was held in Mumbai. Soon after seeing the film, the stars all praised James Cameron’s craft and vivid imagination. While Akshay Kumar praised the film, Varun Dhawan was taken aback by the visuals. The actors also expressed their gratitude to Cameron for changing the course of world cinema.
Akshay Kumar posted on Twitter, “Last night, I watched #AvatarTheWayOfWater, and Oh boy!! The word is MAGNIFICENT. I’m still enchanted. @JimCameron, I bow down to your genius craft. Continue to live!” Varun Dhawan, on the other hand, stated, “By far the most important film for the future of cinema is #AvatarTheWayOfWater.
The visuals and emotions blew me away. It’s amazing when the biggest filmmaker of the world chooses his film to give an important message. I’d like to see it again.”
Meanwhile, director James Cameron has tested positive for Covid, meaning he will miss the premiere of Avatar: The Way of Water in Hollywood. The 68-year-old filmmaker said he tested positive for the novel coronavirus after returning to Los Angeles from Tokyo. “I’m in LA, just got back from Tokyo and I caught Covid on the plane, so I’m stuck here and can’t attend my own premiere tonight.
‘Ah, we’ll meet and I’ll see you at the premiere,’ I’ve said to many people over the years. I think not so. Man suggests and God decides,” Cameron revealed the news to entertainment website Deadline.
“Avatar”, set in the year 2154, explores how humans establish a colony on Pandora, a fictional moon filled with lush forests, giant beasts and its native society, the Na’vi. The story revolves around paraplegic US Marine Jake, who is sent to Pandora on a special mission, torn between following orders and saving the world he considers his home.
When it was released in 2009, “Avatar” became the highest-grossing film of all time, grossing more than USD 2.
Revenues totaled $8 billion. It was nominated for nine Academy Awards including best picture and best director, and won three Oscars, for best cinematography, production design and visual effects.
